During the East Kent Access Route excavations (2009-2011) Romano-British ditches and an extension of a Iron Age hollow way seen to the north were discovered in a southern extension of zone 12. Apparently This hollow way continued in use into the early Roman period and had by then developed into a substantial feature. Few contemporary features have been identified within the zone but several pits within a twater pipe trench to the south are of Roman date and hint at settlement in the vicinity. this A complete iron rim of a cart wheel was found within the hollow way. In other features brick and tile and domestic debris were found. (infomration summarised from source) (1-2)
