The Canterbury UAD states that little is known about this inn. In Pigot's Directory for 1828-29, 1832-34 and 1840, the Star Inn is listed at St. George's Place with Benjamin Richardson as innkeeper.
The site of this public house is shown on the 1st edition O. S. map of 1874. It is listed in Kelly's Directory of 1899-1900 as Star Tavern, 2 St. George's Terrace with T. Latto as licensee.
It must have closed sometime between 1901 and 1930 as no inn or tavern is listed at this address in Kelly's Directory for 1931.
