The Canterbury UAD states that this is a Rigden/Fremlin/Whitbread inn.

This inn was formerly the Bricklayers Arms. In 1887 it was purchased by Rigden (with other property) for £3,500.

It was rebuilt in 1888 at a cost of £1,086 and again after a fire in 1907 for £867. That rebuilt inn is what was the Rising Sun. In March 1915 the Licensee was cautioned by the Chief Constable (of Canterbury) for serving soldiers with excessive quantities of drink.

The Rising Sun closed in 1975 and the Licence was transferred to Brewery Secretary in October 1975, and was not renewed in February 1980.
