The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 85 NW THURNHAM ROUNDWELL
6/201 Roundwell 26.4.68
GV II House. Late C16 and early C17 with earlier cross-wing timber- framed with painted brick nogging and plaster infilling. Plain tiled roof. Main section: 2 low storeys on tall stone plinth. Widely spaced studding and arch brace to front of tension brace to gable end. Roof half-hipped at right end. Central brick ridge stack. Eaves dormer lighting first floor at left end. Irregular fenestration of one small two-light casement. Central rubbed door up flight of steps beneath stack with blocked door immediately to the right of it. Cross wing: 2 storeys, jettied to front with widely-spaced studding and long arched braces to first floor. Roof hipped to road with eaves higher and ridge slightly lower than main range. Projecting brick stack to left end. One 3-light casement on first-floor and original diamond wood mullion window on ground-floor. Door with fielded panels on left side elevation.
