[TR 3481 6468] Cropmarks (ring ditch and enclosure). (1) Area under plough. Nothing visible. [This may be part of the prehistoric site at TR 347 646, see TR 36 SW 58.] (2) [TR 3479 6467] Cropmarks of large circular enclosure, superimposed on a rectilinear enclosure. Area feature abuts the west end of the rectilinear enclosure. (3)(4) [TR 347 646 - sited to nearest 50 metres] Cropmarks of Bronze Age barrows and enclosures. Site no. 171. (5) The fragmented cropmarks of a rectangular enclosure superimposed on the remains of a large circular enclosure measuring 40m in diameter. These enclosures and numerous fragments of ditch in the field to the north and south can be seen on aerial photographs and have been mapped as part of the Historic England Ramsgate HAZ survey. The site was excavated as part of the East Kent Access road. The rectangular enclosure was dated to the middle Iron Age and the ring ditch to the Early Bronze Age. (6-8)
