In 2003 Museum of London Archaeology Service carried out an excavation. One feature was dated to the prehistoric period. A pit contained sherds of flint-tempered pottery of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age date. Also found were a flint core and charred cereal grains. Other features on the site may also be of similar date but contained no datable material. Residual material of the same date was recovered from later features. (1)
