Summary
Several linear cropmark features have been identified in fields to the east of Acol. These features were recorded in the Isle of Thanet Sites and Monuments Archive and were reported on either side of the Margate Hill road. Evidence of an Anglo Saxon settlement found in Acol in 1982 may possibly be related to these cropmarks (see TR 36 NW 76).

TR 311675. Located to the nearest fifty metres. Cropmarks on both side of the road. (Manston Road, Acol) Site no. 112. (1)
Cropmarks of fragments of ditched enclosure are visible to the east of Margate Hill Road on aerial photographs - US/7PH/GB/LOC286V 2012 19-APR-1944, Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007- and have been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. These ditches may be the same features described by TR36NW 204. (2-3)
