A watching brief in 2007 carried out by Canterbury Archaeological trust found 16 pits of medieval date. These could not be explored fully due to the nature of the site. (1)

The earliest sherds recovered dated to AD 1100-1200 but the bulk of material dated to the period AD 1250-1375. It was mostly the local Tyler Hill ware but there were a few imports, including a piece of Saintonge polychrome ware and several fragments of post-medieval stoneware. Several iron objects were found, including a possible knife and a possible key. It is likely that this all represents the rubbish disposal in land behind properties fronting the road further to the north. Two small sections of stone wall foundations were found but it is unclear what form the structure they related to once took. (2-3)
