Summary

Medieval tower on the city wall reused as a chapel. In 1802 it was utilised in connection with the city water supply, and was converted to a Strict Baptist chapel in 1838. Brick walls rounded at the rear to mirror the Medieval tower.

(TR 15195767) Md bastion considerably refaced, now used as a chapel. (1) Zoar Chapel. Grade II. Built in 1845 on the foundations of one of the towers of the City Wall. (2) [TR 15195767] Zoar Chapel (Baptist) [NAT]. (3) Tower No 8, medieval and semicircular, now used as a chapel, lies between Newingate [TR 15 NE 76] and Burgate [TR 15 NE 85]. (4)
