In an old quarry, Sarre. Site in an old quarry with remains of army huts and other concrete bases. It is possible that tunnels to a known Brigade underground battle headquarters lead off from this site. (1)
Five small huts of Second World War date forming part of the Battle Headquarters of Sarre Defended Locality were visible as structures in US/7PH/GP/LOC295 V 5005 20-APR-1944. They stand in an arc close to the south wall of the chalk pit. A further nine huts were added later on during the Second World War, placed more centrally in the chalk pit and visible as structures on RAF/541/484 RP 3027 07-APR-1950. These features were recorded as demolished structures on Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021. They were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (2-4)
