CRANBROOK FREIGHT LANE TQ 73 NE (west side) 3/97 9.6.52 The Freight - II
Former Cloth Hall now house. C15, with C19 alterations and early C20 restoration. Timber-framed and clad in red brick on ground floor, with tile hanging on 1st floor. Plain tiled roof. Large stack to rear of block and end projecting stack to left. 2 hipped dormers in centre and right. 2 storeys. Irregular fenestration of 5 windows on first floor and 4 on ground floor, C20 wood framed transom and mullion diamond lattice casements. Central hipped single storey porch with boarded door in Tudor arched surround flanked by up- right windows. Large 2 storey wings to rear. Interior: Substantial evidence of timber frame.

Substantial late 16th century and early 17th century house which contains fragments of a Wealden house. There is some evidence for a jetty at the front and recessed hall wall. A late 16th century house was added at the rear. (2)
