A post mill which was first recorded on the site on a Symon's map of 1596. A later mill has been also recorded on the site since 1771. This mill was built in Rye, moved to Appledore, moved beck to Rye and finally rested in Appledore. Also, a trade token from William Packham has been found at the site and dates to 1794The brick base remains in the lane near the entrance to Mill Farm and retains the inscription - "The Union. Built in the year 1794". (1)
