The following text is from the original listed building designation:
POPLAR LANE 1. 1355 Poplar House TR 0421 SW 3/24 II 2. An C18 farmhouse. 2 storeys and attic red brick, the front painted. Hipped tiled roof with modillion eaves cornice and 1 hipped dormer. 3 sashes with glazing bars intact. Doorcase with flat-hood over supported on brackets.

Description from record TR 02 SW 27 :

Fragments of a late medeival open hall house, probably built between 1430 and 1490, survive. Substantially rebuilt and enlarged in the late 16th century. In the 18th century a stair wing , now demolished, may have been added and the external walls were rebuilt in brick or clad in tile.(2)
