TR 176374. Frogholt Cottage. A timber structure of one and two storeys. It was probably built in the 16th century as a two-bay open hall between a small service bay and a two-storey solar bay with end jetty. The hall was remodelled and a chimney inserted c1600, and the lower end bay was re-built in the 18th century. The corner posts above the jetty are curved up, like base crucks, to meet a half-hipped roof. (1) TR 13 NE NEWINGTON Frogholt Hall said never to have been floored. (E.W. Perkin, unpublished report in National Monuments Record). (2) Frogholt. One mile west of St Nicholas Church, Newington. Small, thatched, timber-framed hall-house with an overhand only at one of the short ends and a cruck-like construction above it. Mr E.W Parkin suggest a date for it before c.1350. (3)
