Summary
A Romano-British occupation layer was identified at the foot of the 'cliff' on the foreshore in 1966. Subsequent examinations of the area failed to provide any conclusive evidence of this. The site was more recently identified during a survey of the north Kent coast by Wessex Archaeology in 2002.

TQ 839789. A RB occupation level was located at the foot of the `cliff' on the seashore. Information supplied by Miss M.B.Webster (1). An examination of this part of the foreshore was negative. The cliff, varying in height from 5 - 20 feet of London Clay, is almost completely obscured by slips, some very recent (2,3). Site identified during 2002 survey (4).
