(TQ 48404095) Moat (NR) (1) About a mile north-east of Cowden village there is a moated enclosure,one side of which was formed by a stream, a feader of the Medway. Though less than 200 ft square, this was a place of considerable strength. (2) This is not a moat but an "ox-bow" isolated when the stream was diverted. (3) TQ 483409. The Moat Cowden is listed in the County checklist of moated sites in Kent - December 1979 (4) (TQ 48324092) Moat Farm (NAT) (5)
