Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1367 to 1432 There are the remains of a rectangular building with ragstone walls immediately south west of a farmhouse with the same name in Loose [ Pympe's Court]. The south west end of the ruins has traditionally been called "The Old Chapel" but there are no features which support the classification.

The ragstone walls are 0.8m thick and the internal measurements are 3.0m x 4.8m. The building is orientated NNE-SSW. Some of the stone work may have been used in later 18th century and 19th century farmbuildings. Some 15th century window fragments are built into a long barn which is heavily buttressed on the eastern side. There is a 14th century pointed doorway in the western end of the north side of the ruins, adjoining "The Old Chapel."

The de Pimpes held the manor from the 13th century to the 16th century.

Description from record TQ 75 SE 22:
[TQ 75335273] Pympe's Court [GT] (remains of) (1) Pimp's Court (Remains of) applies to the remains of an ancient house immediately south-west fo the farmstead of the same name. Hasted notes the ruins of an ancient mansion about the [then] modern house. The south-west end of the ruins was traditionally called 'The Old Chapel'. The de Pimpes held the manor from the 13th c to the 16th C. (2 - 3) Adjoining the south-west corner of the recently rebuilt Pimp's Court is the roofless remains of a rectangular building, with ragstone walls 0.8m thick, measuring internall 3.0m by 4.8m. It is orientated NNE-SSW and there is a fine 14th C pointed doorway in the west end of the north side. This building is traditionally called 'The Old Chapel', but no features to support this classification are visible. There is much stonework about the 18th/19th c farm buildings, most of it rebuilt, but the heavily buttressed east side of a long barn centred TQ 75405275 may be Md in origin. Some 15th c window fragments are built into the end of a barn adjoining the 'chapel' at TQ 75345273. GP/AO/64/110/3. (4)

BUSBRIDGE ROAD TQ 7552 LOOSE (blast Side) Ruins about 6 metres 6/168 west-south-west of Pimps Court II Ruins of house known as Pimpe's Court. Possibly late C14 or early C15. Ragstone. Cell approximately 13' by 7', with walls about 10' high. Moulded pointed-arched doorway to one gable end. Adjoins further stone section about 25' long which contains a small re-set trefoiled stone window head. Hasted (1798) describes ruins of an "... ancient mansion..." on this site.
