The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 944 UNION STREET
King William IV Public House. No 64A. TR 1558 SW 3/718
II
2. Circa 1840. 2 storeys painted brick. Hipped slate roof. 2 sashes on main elevation set in cambered arched recesses. Stringcourse. The ground floor has 3 light sashes. The side elevation has 3 window spaces - 1 cambered arched recess on file side. Doorcase has a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. Plinth.
Listing NGR: TR1527758273

The Canterbury UAD states that there is little known about this inn. It appears to have been established in c. 1840. It is still listed in the Kelly's Directory for 1931; and 1949-50. The Public House however appears to have closed sometime during the 1950's as it is listed as aprivate residence in the Kelly's Directory for 1961.
