From the Register of Scheduled Monuments:

Land given to the Greyfriars in 1267 by John Digge, an Alderman of the City. Church consecrated in 1325. All that now survives above ground is the 13th century building spanning the stour but the internal arrangements are very much altered as it was first used as a private house and later as a prison.

The position of the church is certain, much of the N wall and part of the W end, the nave and the E range survive as garden walls and the right of way through the 'walking place' tower is preserved. The cloister is ?S and building spanning the river (already scheduled) was off SE corner of this. The use of the island (already sheduled) SE of the building is uncertain, no structures are known,

The new scheduled area is that of the second island. The dykes which defined this island anre mostly backfilled. Trial trenching has indicated archaeological remains over the whole island and the masonry uncovered is of displayable quality. The scheduled area includes the medieval and later bridge which was the original entrance to the second island. There are sections of monastic walling with surviving pilasters in the walls which bound the nursery. The small 13th century building straddles river Stour on 2 pairs of pointed arches which rest on ground piers with moulded capitals, their bases set in the river bed.(2)
