The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 CHARING HIGH STREET (west side) No 47 (formerly listed as Premises immediately south of Ludwell House) TQ 9549 22/34 14.2.67 II GV 2. C15 to C16 Wealden house with a cross-wing and recessed centre. Two storeys and attics. The ground floor has been refaced in brick, now painted, the first floor of the east front is hung with fishscale tiles and the north front is plastered, both oversailing. The eaves of the west half of the north front overhang on brackets. Tiled roof. Gable end facing east. Casement windows. One window facing east and 2 window and 2 hipped dormers facing north. The east front has a modern shop-front.

Details of cellar. (2)

House of two medieval phases the earlier of which has been much altered and consists of two early 15th century crosswings and the later hall and lower end of a house of Wealden form perhaps built in the 3rd quarter of the century. (3)
