The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. 5272 CHARING BARNFIELD ROAD Barnfield TQ 94 NW 10/76 II 2. C17 or earlier timber-framed building. Two parallel ranges. Ground floor red brick with tile-hung first floor. Overhang visible on right-hand side. Rear range has massive brick chimney stack. Six casement windows. Left side doorcase with flat hood on brackets. Inglenook fireplace.

Late 15th century Wealden house with formerly open 2-bay hall and with both ends jettied to end as well as the front. (2)
