The following text is from the original listed building designation:
1. CHARING HIGH STREET 5272 (west side) No 9 TQ 9549 22/44 14.2.67 (formerly listed as House opposite No 70) II GV 2. Probably a Cl6 timber-framed building with plaster infilling, and some close-studding on the ground floor, the first floor oversailing on brackets with curved braces. Tiled roof with C16 massive brick chimney stack. Trio casement windows on first floor. Two small 5-light canted bays on ground floor containing sash windows with their glazing bars intact. Some original window openings. Doorcase with door of 2 fielded panels.
