Summary

According to nineteenth-century accounts, "foundations of an apparently extensive Roman Villa" or "species of terrace" were observed at Little Buckland Farm, Maidstone, when planting an orchard c.1835, a quarter of a mile before the present Buckland Lane (a supposed Roman road) reached the river at Radford. Nothing more is known of this site, although Roman pottery and tiles are recorded as having been found when Sharps's Sports Ground was being laid out in 1930.
