Rampart of 18th century bastioned trace (TQ 97 NW 112). Cylindrical concrete structure, with steel pivot in the middle of its top. For mounting of spigot mortar to provide covering fire for the barrier bridge. In good condition Rubble aroun d the pedestal may be form the demolished ammunition recesses.(1), site photographs (2).(3)
A Heritage Assessment was completed in 2020 in respect of proposals for a parcel of land on the north side of Garrison Road, within the historic Sheerness Docks, and identified the correct location of the spigot mortar emplacement. (4)
