This one shows white in comparison with other barges on the BANDW Print. It appears not to be double-ended and to have an open central hold with a covered area at either end. It also appears on the 1967 survey. The barge appears on the 1985 survey lying on a low tide in the mud of a much reduced channel. 1990 survey photograph not available during search. This vessel has been identified as Gladys which was built in Sandwich by Felton in 1900. Her owners are recorded as Hicks, then Shrubsall. She is noted as a barge yacht in 1950 and as being wrecked on Grain Sand in 1950 and hulked in 1960. (1). Not seen during 2002 survey (2).
