STONE CIRCLE [NR] Remains of (1) TQ 65576323 Sarsen-stones [NAT] (1-2) "Not a stone circle, A deep natural coombe which has formed a convenient dumping ground for large masses of sarsen boulders dragged off the neighbouring fields during ploughing. F.J. Bennett, in "Ightham, the story of a Kentish Village" first put forward the megalith idea, see his fanciful plan on p.48", as testified by the farmer at Harvel Hill Farm. (3) At Cockadam Shaw, Kent, a large collection of stones in a wood. [See AO/59/155/5] (4) Visited. A pile of sarsens at the bottom of a deep hollow. (5)
