Description from record TQ 75 SE 247:
The following text is from the original listed building designation:
SALTS LANE TQ 7552 & TQ 75 SE LOOSE (North Side) 3/201 & 6/201 Old Mill House 23.5.67 GV II House, formerly associated with mill, now house. Late C16 or early C17, with C15 or early C16 core and C18 addition. Timber framed, rendered, with plain tile roof. 2 timber-framed bays of an open hall, with storeyed right end bay missing. Left end bay possibly re-arranged as cross-wing, projecting to rear, in late C16 or early C17. Two low stores, on rendered plinth. Roof half-hipped to right and hipped to left, hip returning with slightly higher ridge. Multiple brick ridge stack in front slope of roof to junction of main range and wing. Irregular fenestration of two 3-light casements; one to wing and one, rising through eaves with hipped roof, to main range. Panelled and half-glazed door with flat hood under stack. Rendered lean-to to left. C18 central rear stair turret. Short rear wing to right. Interior: exposed framing. Moulded right end of hall beam. Exposed diamond mullion windows. Plain truncated crown-post to right end of hall, with foot braces, but moved towards one end of tie-beam. Clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters and windbraces, Similar roof to rear right wing. Stone fireplace to each side of each stack on each floor. C18 staircase with moulded handrail and balusters.
