WESTERHILL ROAD TQ 75 SW COXHEATH (West Side) 2/22 Westerhill (formerly listed in Linton civil 23.5.67 parish) II
Farmhouse. C15 or early C16 with later C18 facade. Timber framed. Ground floor chequered red and grey brick, first floor clad with boarding grooved to imitate rusticated masonry. Plain tile roof. Possibly a Wealden with underbuilt jetties and front of narrow left hall bay built out later, flush with left end bay. 2 storeys and attic. Brick plinth on stone base. Boarding suggests higher midrail to right hall bay. Hipped roof. Brick ridge stack (stone below roof-line) to probable left hall bay. Small rear stack towards right end. Eaves of recessed (?right hall) bay raised to form gable, boarded as first floor, with 2-light attic casement. Irregular fenestration of four sashes, three 16-pane and one 12-pane, in open boxes. Similar windows to ground floor. Panelled door beneath stack (under second window from left), with patterned rectangular fanlight, plain pilasters and flat bracketed hood. C18 red and grey brick rear return wing to left and weatherboarded C18 stair turret in re-entrant angle. Rear lean-to to rest of main range. Interior: first-floor shutter grooves to right gable end and rear wall of right end bay. Changes in first-floor levels across centre of building. Modillioned C18 cornice to ground-floor right end room. Chamfered beams, C18 cornice and corner cupboard to ground-floor room of wing.
