LOWER ROAD TQ 75 SW EAST FARLEIGH (North Side) 2/47 Nos. 1-6 (inclusive) Adelaide Cottages GV II
On a corner site. House, with house row added. House C14, with C16 and C17 additions and alterations. House row mid C19. House and wing timber framed, clad with weatherboarding. Addition with ragstone to ground floor, weatherboarded above. Plain tile roof. House row chequered red and grey brick to ground floor, weatherboarded above, with slate roof. House comprises 2 timber-framed bays, built at right-angles to road; that to left, nearest road, formerly part of open hall, that to right storeyed, with single aisle to present front of house. Later timber-framed rear wing to left with further addition projecting towards road from its gable end. House row at right-angles to right of wing gable end, fronting lane. House 1½ storeys, wing 2 storeys, addition 2 storeys and garret, house row 2 storeys. Steeply pitched gabled roof to house. Half-hipped roof to addition, with right end jettied at eaves level. House row gabled. Gable end stack with stone base. to left of house. Projecting brick stack to gable end of addition. Gable end stack and 2 ridge stacks to house row. Hipped dormer to house, and 2 small ground-floor casements. 4-light diamond mullion window to rear. Horizontally-sliding first-floor sash to wing, with 3-light casement below. One 2-light casement towards left end of addition, and irregular fenestration of 4 casements to house row. Boarded door to left end of house, beneath stack to No. 6. Boarded door with flat bracketed hood to left end of addition, to No. 5. Boarded and panelled doors to house row, to Nos. 1-4. Interior of No. 6: exposed framing. Aisle ties to both bays. Arcade braces to left bay. Tie-beam trenched for passing braces. Re-used post with lap-joint matrix. Stud-and-daub end-of- hall partition. Sooted collared common rafters. C16 or C17 staircase with triangular wooden treads. Stone fireplace. Interiors of Nos. 1-5 not inspected.
