The following text is from the original listed building designation:
CHART SUTTON CHART HILL TQ 74 NE ROAD [west side] 4/30 Heronden (formerly 26.4.68 listed as Hernden) GV II
House. C15 or early C16, with later alterations and additions. Timber framed. Exposed close-studding with rendered infilling, partly clad on ground floor with red and grey brick in Flemish bond. Plain tile roof. Open hall of 2 timber-framed bays with storeyed left end bay and 2 storeyed bays to right. Right end bays 2 storeys, hall bays 1½ storeys, left end bay possibly altered from 2 to 1½ storeys and semi-basement in C18 or later. Stone plinth. Right end bays jettied. Hall bays jettied when floored, with much higher bressumer. Bressumer of left end bay raised to same height; bay projects slightly. Hipped roof, with ridge slightly higher to left of stack. Projecting stack to left gable end, ridge stack to left of centre and projecting brick stack to rear wall of hall. Irregular fenestration of 4 leaded windows; 3 hipped through dormers, one to left end bay and one to each hall bay, and one 4-light mullioned window to second bay from right. Ribbed door with 4-centred arched head to left end of hall. Short rear return wing to left. 2-storey stone and brick turret adjoining rear stack. Interior not inspected.
