From the 2nd ed (1897-1900) OS map, Ramsgate has started to spread outwards towards the outlining villages of Pegwell, Chilton, St Lawrence, Newington, Whithall, Netherhall, Northwood, Hollicondane, Hereson. By the 4th ed.(1929-1952) Osma, Ramsgate the areas between the villages is developed mainly by housing. Creating the conubation of post 1900 Ramsgate. Ramsgate from its original linear northward along the road and east/west along the coast alignment.
