There has been growth to the north of the village with the National School being built, Girls and Infants on the west side of the Newington Road and the Boys school on th east side of the road. As well as the railway line running west to east, with the it's station. To the east of Ellington Park the village expanded across toChatham Street, This area included a brewery, St Mary's church, Southwood and the water works. (1)
