Trenches of Second World War date were visible as recently levelled earthworks in US/7PH/GP/LOC286 V 5010 19-APR-1944 and as cropmarks in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 21-APR-2007. They are oriented roughly east/west, parallel with the south side of RAF Manston's crash runway that was constructed in 1943-44. The trenches presumably provided services for the later Second World War development of the airfield. These features were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024.
