Extent of Birchington village as shown on the 3rd and 4th Edition O/S maps (1906-52). (1-2)
The village of Birchington showed little development on the 3rd Edition O/S map. However, there was major expansion both north and south of the mainline railway as shown on the 4th Edition O/S map. New residential areas were built, new schools and new hotels opened.
