The Iron Bridge p was built in 1861 by Captain Frederick Hodges to facilitate access to the 128ft (39m) flagstaff he had erected on the point

between Walpole Bay and Palm Bay, is shown on the 1st (1862-1875), it had been paved over by the 2nd (1897-1900) O.S. map. Modern OS maps shows the area as a paved public open space and the roadway (B2051) has moved to the west.
