Site of Hall by the Sea, Marine Terrace, Margate as shown on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Edition O/S maps and the Margate Town Map 1. The site is now occupied by Dreamland as shown on the current O/S map.
The original building, part of the vacated London Chatham and Dover Railway Terminus, was rented in 1867 to Spiers and Ponds, a major catering contractor, who ran it as a dance and concert hall. In 1870 it was sold. In 1874 it reopened together with the Italian and Zoological Gardens. The original railway buildings lasted until 1898 when they were replaced by a purpose built structure. Then in 1919 the Hall by the Sea was sold to John Henry Isles who developed the site into an American-style amusement Park(Dreamland).
