Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of Romano-British property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. Within property 10 on the western side of Watling Street, a Roman dene hole was uncovered. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of Romano-British property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. Within property 10 on the western side of Watling Street, a Roman dene hole was uncovered. It was located in the gap of a fence line surrounding the property and was subcircular in plan with vertical sides and in excess of 3.5 m deep. The upper fills of the dene hole contained pottery of late 3rd/4th century date. (1)
