Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of Romano-British property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. A series of post holes were located within the immediate vicinity of the Watling Street frontage and on the edge of property 5, these have been interpreted as representing fencelines of an early Roman date. (location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information)

Excavations in advance of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in 2002-3 identified a number of Romano-British property boundaries west of the Ebbsfleet. A series of post holes were located within the immediate vicinity of the Watling Street frontage and on the edge of property 5, these have been interpreted as representing fencelines of an early Roman date. A possible sequence of three pairs of larger post-holes also lay along the frontage, centrally placed and approximately 4 m apart, perhaps defining an entrance to the property.(1)
