Excavation in 2000-2002 carried out as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link found a shallow L shaped slot which was located 5m to the north a rectangular structure c. 4.5m x 6m in size which has been interpreted as a mid Roman building. This slot may represent a beam slot or wall trench defining the south-east corner of a rectangular timber structure measuring at least 5 m by 3 m and aligned south-east to north-west. This is on the same alignment as the walling to the south and it seems likely that the two features are associated. (1)
