In an area just to the north of the road which leads towards the Ritual pools, three Early Roman neonate burials were discovered during excavations at Springhead between 2000 and 2002. The three burials were dispersed, two in shallow graves one in a pit. All of the features to the north of the road can probably be assigned to the later part of the 1st century AD and may be associated with earliest of a sequence of three clay-floored structures.
