Three post-holes and sub-rectangular pit were discovered during excavations at Springhead. They lay within the angle formed by ditch, this ditch possibly represents the northern corner of a large enclosure dating to the early Roman period. The post-holes are undated but the pit contained late 1st–early 2nd century pottery. Possibly all of these features were contemporary with the ditch, though this remains uncertain, as does their function. (1-2)
