Summary

Swingate Aerodrome (or St. Margrets Aerodrome) was constructed in 1913/1914 east of the A258 at Swingate Radar Station. A earthwork redoubt (Swingate Downs Position) was located at TR 336 433 and a field gun position at TR 336 432. The Aerodrome was later destroyed but some hut bases remain.

Swingate Aerodrome (or St. Margrets Aerodrome) was constructed in 1913/1914 east of the A258 at Swingate Radar Station. WW1 airfield Earthwork redoubt (Swingate Downs Position) at TR 336 433, field gun position at TR 336 432. The Aerodrome was destroyued but some hut bases are extant. The site is associated with a WW2 Chain Home Radar Station and 1960's ROC Post (see separate reports). The site was visited in 1994.
