A Tannery was located at the end of Tannery lane next to the Great Stour in Ashford. The pits and buildings are marked on the OS 1st ed. map of 1868 and the subsequent Ordnance survey historic maps. It is not clear if any of the building now remains.

Mid C19. 2 storeys weatherboarded. Half-hipped slate roof. Continuous fixed casement glazing.

The date of the tannery is uncertain. It appears to have been operational by AD 1707 when Whist House was built. (3)

Buildings are shown on the site on the OS drawing of 1797.
