Tunnel used as air raid shelter north of London Rd, Tile Hill Northfleet. Part brick-lined chalk tunnel on a north-west / south-east orientation. At least 100m long and 4 m across. Uncertain if excavated as part of industrial chalk working prior to its use as air raid shelter. Brick traversed entrances at either end blocked c1980 with chalk fill and currently inmaccesable. Major of the two entrances was in the lower face of the chalk quarry immediatly N of London Rd at Tile Hill, Northfleet.

Part brick lined chalk tunnel on a NW/SE orientation. At least 100m long and 4 m accross. Uncertain if excavated as part of industrial chalk working prior to its use as air raid shelter. Brick traversed entrances at either end blocked c1980 with chalk fill and currently inmaccesable. Major of the two entrances was in the lower face of the chalk quarry immediatly N of London Rd at Tile Hill, Northfleet. Inspection of the tunnel in 1978 revealled that any internal furniture or fittings had been removed. (1)
