During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, substantial remains of the Classis Britannica fort were uncovered and recorded. Excavations in 1970 in an area which was originally occupied by a small car park on the north side of Queens Street revealed gully like drain constructed of large chalk blocks into which a channel had been cut, which was traced for a distance of 2.5m, north-south along the line of the road between barrack B21 and B22. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information).

This drain appears to cut through the period two drain (B63) and was cut by a later sump (B68). (1)
