Excavation in 2000-2002 carried out as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link found feature which has been interpreted as a denehole. This was located close to a mid Roman building and they are possibly contemporary. The upper fill contained mid-Roman pottery. its presence likely to have restricted the northern extent of the possible timber structure which is represented by a beam slot and which is probably associated with the walling located to the south.
