Site of brick works opened by George Smeed for the production of stock bricks. These were hand moulded with brick earth from wash backs and clamp burnt. Brick moulding machinery was introduced between 1911 and 1921, but clamp burning continued.
Marked on editions 1 to 4 O.S. maps. Mentioned in R. Perks, "George Bargebrick"
