A barge building yard in the second half of the 19th century operated by Curels until the mid 1890s and then by George Gill. Latterly used by London and Rochester Trading Company for ship repair. It is probable that this is the site of a Napoleonic private warship building yard.
(i) J M Preston, Industrial Medway.
