Pillbox [shown on German map of defences in East Kent]. On coast SE of Hythe centre. (1)

The type 23 pillbox referred to above (Source 1) is visible on aerial photographs and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The square pillbox is centred at TR 17007 34422, on the Princess Parade east of the Imperial Hotel at Hythe. The pillbox was subsequently demolished after the war and had gone by 1966. (2-3)
