A Second World War reinforced concrete pillbox is shown on a German map of British defences on the East bank of the canal waterway North of the Redoubt (Monument Number 464040), between Hythe and Dymchurch. No pillbox or any other structure however was visible on the available historical aerial photographs at this location.

Pillbox [shown on German map of British defences]. On E bank of waterway N of The Redoubt, between Hythe and Dymchurch. (1)

The pillbox referred to above (Source 1) was not visible on aerial photographs viewed as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. There does not appear to be a pillbox or any other structure which is visible at the location given or on the east bank of the canal cutting south of that recorded at TR 1257 3242 (Monument Number 1427422).
